Where are we at.

Hello all,

I wanted to let you know where we are at with Rothaen. Hamish is almost done with his stuff, I expect it in the next week or two. I have two more nations on my end and I plan to be done by next Monday. Maps are done. I just need to go through them again and make any final adjustments. We have more pages than we need, so in the read through, I'll be cutting it down. We are still on track for my timeline from the last update. Finish this draft in February, do a read through and edit, have it edited it again, then send it out to you all for play testing this summer. Once play testing starts, I'll turn my attention to the adventure and monster books which both have been worked on. The light is at the end of the tunnel.

Midgard Audio Collection Kickstarter

I believe in transparency and updating often so you're not left in the dark wonder what is up. Audio does not slow down work on the book. In fact, the book is my highest priority. I want to get it done. I've been doing audio for a long time. I'm not trying to brag, but I'm really good at it. The Midgard collection is not due until September and has 90 tracks if everything gets unlocked. I'll be doing a track a day. Most tracks take me 2 to 3 hours at most. On top of that Michelle will be doing some of the work. The book will still be getting worked on everyday, no matter what phase it's in.

Finally, this kickstarter will allow me to keep food on the table. If it does super well, it means some more art. I want to get a few more pieces if I can for the monster book. Be sure that I'm around, working, and will keep you all updated as we start to get to the finish line. I hate that this has taken so long, but it will get done and be awesome.

Have a great week,

Wes

Break down

Right now 7 more countries to finish up. Hamish is doing 3 of them while I tackle the final four. I will finish Orlamain today, so really, I have three more to go. I should have everything together by the first week of February, then a read through will happen, we will cut the fat, so to speak, then do an edit. After that we'll get you a play test copy. My goal fro the play test copy by the end July if not sooner. The play test widow will be open till the start of November. At that time, I'll take all your notes, and we will create a final version which I hoping to have done by December.

Once the core book is being edited, I'll be jumping over to the Monster Tome and Quest of Rothaen. Quest of Rothaen has a lot already done in it. I need to write two adventures for it. The Monster Tome has already been started as well. My goal for both these books is done by December as well.

I have a good amount of art for the books, but still want a few more pieces. The light is at the end of the tunnel!

Midgard Collection

I'm going to be doing a collection for Kobold Press' Midgard Setting this year. The Kickstart begin on February 15th. The book will by the time I start on those tracks so it won't effect my timeline.

Thank you all very much, I know this is taking awhile and appreciate your patience.

Happy Holidays

Wow, Did I mess up!

I try and make sure I post updates every month, but I see we are way overdue, and I apologize for that and the fact that this project is taken a lot longer than I had anticipated. Let's go over the reasons why, these are not excuses, just whats been up.

I've been writing everyday, and the light is at the end of the tunnel. I'm still getting art, and Hamish has turned in a portion of his work. Right now we 10 nations to go. At the current rate, I plan to have them done by the end of January. Meanwhile, editing has begun on what has been done. I'm not going to put a date on when that will be done, but when I have a clearer view, I will up date you. Right now, we are so close to warping up the core book. The Quest and monster books are also in the oven, and as soon as the core book is done, I'll start cranking on that.

So why has this been so slow? There are a few things going on. First, I have Crohn's Disease that has been super bad this year and has left me many days unable to get a lot of work done. This is why I work from home. My doctor has been throwing everything a the kitchen sink at it, but it's been a bad stretch. This last month I have felt better though and have been able to finish a lot more writing. I don't like to bring up my illness, but I feel you should know why I'm late. Again, not an excuses, I'm very sorry for the delay.

The next thing is art. My art budget did not cover what I wanted, so all this time I've been buying art as I've made the money to do so. Right now I have a good amount, but their are still a few more pieces I want. Audio pays for art, so I have to sometimes take off from writing to make cash to cover art. Again, we are very close to being done in this area as well.

I HATE being late on anything, but at the same time I can't push out the book to you right now. We will finish. Have a great New Year and I will speak to you again soon.

A year, where are we at?
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 17, 2017 at 09:35:22 PM

Working, I hate doing a post that says the same thing as the last. but that's what is up. I'm writing everyday on the kingdoms. The cults, character section, and religions are done. Hamish should be done with his sections soon. I have been focusing on the core book with the intention of finishing it first. Art is ending up costing more than I first budgeted, but I have got good pieces and am buying what I can as we move along. I can't give a hard date for when the core book will be done, but I'll have a better picture at the end of November.

I'm going to do a stream on twitch and talk about where we are at and take questions in the next few weeks. I'll post a link and the time before hand. I know that we are late, I hate that, but it's the reality. I'm not going to rush and put out crap, but I'm also not going to take forever to get you your rewards.

Thank you for backing and being apart of this game.

Monsters today
over 6 years ago – Thu, Sep 07, 2017 at 05:04:47 PM

Hello all,

It's September and we are working on many fronts. Today I'm working on maps and monsters. Hamish is working on his nations and character options. Nations are the biggest thing in the book and so they are taking us the most energy. We will see where we are at in October so I can hopefully give you a firm finish date for everything. I hope everyone had a great summer and you are all in safe places right now.

Thanks!

Wes
